Every third month, we take you on an American Bully adventure. The American Bully was "created" in the mid-1990s, in the United States, through several years of selection combining the American Pitbull Terrier (UKC registered) - from which it was originally descended - and the American Staffordshire Terrier (AKC registered) with other bulldog-type breeds. The aim was to create a breed that would give the impression of great strength for its size. This was not the result of a single breeder with a clear objective, but rather of a trend among several breeders, originally located mainly in Virginia and South Carolina. This multiplicity of breeders led some of them to " remix " the breed by adding other bull-type breeds (such as the American bulldog, the English bulldog, the Old English bulldog, etc.).
American Bullies are compact, medium/large dogs with muscular bodies and massive heads. The American Bully must give the impression of being heavy-boned, with a voluminous build and appearance.
The American Bully is a confident companion dog with a zest for life and an exuberant desire to please and bond with its family, making it an excellent family companion. Despite his fierce, powerful appearance, his demeanor is gentle. He's great with children and extremely friendly with strangers, other dogs and other animals. Aggression towards humans or dogs, extreme shyness or viciousness are not characteristic of the American Bully and are highly undesirable.
